The ECA is pleased to release a special edition of Breaking Ground, which celebrates the 90th anniversary of the ECA. It was in 1931 when the ECA was created as the Edmonton Builders Exchange with 43 founding firms. Since then we have grown to over 1,000 firms in the greater Edmonton region.
This edition features: 90 years of city building: Reflections on Edmonton’s past and future, articles on social procurement, prompt pay, YBG, mass timber, BuildWorks, and the Roxy Theatre. We are also pleased to feature anniversary articles from member firms Synergy, VETS and Four Elements Electric. Take a look!

2021 marks the 90th anniversary of the ECA. In celebration of this milestone, the ECA team, in partnership with historians Shirley Lowe and Stephen Lowe, is pleased to present this special feature of some of the major projects that defined our city over the last 90 years.
Then, as today, ECA member companies were at the forefront of our building community.
