At the Edmonton Construction Association we are builders. As builders of infrastructure, our members create the buildings, roads, sewers and landscapes that grow our community. We are builders of people as we provide educational and training opportunities to our membership. We are builders of relationships, between our members through social and networking events, in the community as we build, and as advocates for our industry in government and business circles. Finally, we are builders of procurement opportunity, as we provide unparalleled access to comprehensive tender information, both public and private.
The ECA was incorporated in 1931 and is the largest non-profit construction association in Western Canada, serving the Commercial, Institutional, and Industrial Construction Industry. Our membership is made up of over 1,200 Edmonton and area firms, divided into, Trade Contractors, Manufacturers, General Contractors, Suppliers, Owners, Architects, Engineers, and Associated members.
Our goal at the ECA is to provide member value with a strong focus on our Four Pillars, which are: Procurement, Collaboration, Networking, and Education. ECA staff and the Board of Directors work hard to ensure that members and all stakeholders are engaged to advance our industry.
The Rewards of Membership
The ECA is committed to providing unparalleled value to our members. We are proud to serve our members through our Four Pillars:
The ECA is committed to helping its members find opportunities and together with our partners, we provide the most construction tendering opportunities in Alberta.
The ECA's Electronic Plan Room, COOLNet, provides Industry access to nearly 4,000 publicly tendered construction projects annually, including pre-bid, pre-qualification notices, and bid results. Members have access to password protected bidders lists, and many projects now have online plans, specifications, and addenda.
Share project documents with your choice of invited partners in a secure environment that the construction industry is already familiar with. Contractors and trades people only see the projects they're invited to and can easily login using their COOLNet user name and password.
This network eliminates the need for multiple FTP sites and makes it easier to manage trade/supplier contact lists. Users can upload their own contact lists as well as invite contacts from the directory. There is also a complete audit trail that logs all document transmittals and communications.
The ECA also continues to provide a Physical Plan Room for members. Members are able to book plans and specifications overnight and weekends, and order full size drawings at member rates.
As an ECA member, you are automatically part of the Alberta Construction Association and the Canadian Construction Association. As such your voice is heard nationwide as we seek to collaborate with all levels of government and industry for the betterment of our member firms. Our primary interest is to work on behalf of our membership to spearhead the initiatives that will grow our industry locally, provincial, nationally, and internationally.
At the ECA we are also highly involved with our partner associations including the Alberta Roadbuilders & Heavy Construction Association (ARHCA), the Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA), the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA), BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association), our partner trade associations, and many more. We do our best to work with all parties to find common solutions.
At the ECA we are focused on bringing members together.
The ECA hosts some 25 networking events per year. These include traditional events such as the Builders Connect Luncheon (AGM) and Night at the Races, as well as Golf Tournaments, Summer Parking Lot Barbeques, and the newly created Meet & Greets. In 2015, over 5,000 members attended ECA events, and gained from increased interactions and business leads.
